about me

My story

Inner peace and balance through yoga, breathing exercises, and other relaxation techniques

I have always been creative, enthusiastic, adventurous, and highly driven in everything I undertook. I always gave 200%… until my body suddenly couldn’t keep up. In 2021, I ended up in a burnout, and my world literally came to a standstill. I was completely exhausted, both physically and mentally. I had been so used to rationalizing everything that I had forgotten to listen to what my body truly needed.

I had a very stressful job, and on top of that, I exercised intensively, believing it kept me healthy. But that’s only partly true. When your body is already producing high levels of stress hormones because of work, adding extreme exercise on top eventually takes a heavy toll. Yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises helped me recover. I regained calm in my mind and learned to listen to my body again.

Alongside my daily yoga practice, I also started a Shiatsu course. Shiatsu is a Japanese acupressure technique, using thumbs and palms to apply pressure along the energy pathways in the body to release blockages and restore life force. I wanted to better understand how energy flows in the body, how imbalances occur, and what we can do ourselves to support it.

I slowly considered returning to work, but my body wasn’t ready—and for good reason. In early 2022, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Even during treatment, yoga helped me cope with the side effects of chemotherapy.

yoga for me

In 2003, I attended my first yoga classes at Yoga Vedanta Aalst.
Since then, I’ve explored many other classes, including sessions with Juan Gabriel in Heverlee, eventually completing multiple yoga teacher trainings. I am now a 260-hour certified Vinyasa, Yin, and Yin/Yang yoga teacher.

During my burnout, the seed was planted to share the benefits of yoga with others. After my cancer treatment, that seed blossomed into a flower that I am passionate about helping grow. I want to guide people back on their path to themselves.

The benefits of yoga are endless. It not only brings more flexibility and strength to your body, but also builds resilience and restores balance between body and mind. It helps realign body and mind so they can work in harmony.

Did you know that yoga was originally developed as a medicine for various ailments and illnesses? Certain poses can stimulate organs and energy pathways, resolving physical or energetic blockages. These blockages are often the root cause of illness. Yoga is therefore much more than just exercises to strengthen muscles or improve flexibility.

You can think of it as a work-in rather than a work-out, aiming to stimulate the body’s natural self-healing abilities.
